Still not all of us enjoy an unexpected guest who calls just 10-20 minuets, before they arrive. Specially when all you plan is to chill on the weekend and the house is a mess. So how does that work? ROLL THE BLINDS
You know what makes a good decor picture go from better to best? The natural sun light. So if you are expecting someone in the day time then roll up those blinds and let the light fill in. If it is in the night, try to play with some mood lighting to give your decor a warm look.

DUSTING THE CORNERS
Living in one of the most polluted cities of the world, I must admit it is almost impossible to not find dust particles in the house. Hence dusting is very important. Specially when you got some unexpected guests coming in, do try to look in for those nooks and crannies that your help might otherwise skip. There is nothing worse than having a beautiful painting in a dust filled frame. As the whole reason why you have that picture hung there is to attract the attention but not the wrong kind.

BATHROOM CHECK
So most people may give all their attention to the living room but an unkept bathroom can totally spoil the impression. Do check that there is a clean hand towel, there is no bad smell and it is clean for the ladies to use.

Now it might happen that the your sofa chairs would be shifted a bit or the carpet is going a little too much towards the east. (If you got kids the chances are even more). Pick those magazines on the table and put them up in a clean pile and make it all look aligned.

There is a reason why we Indians love our beds with space inside. When a guest is to arrive and you do not have enough time to figure what goes where, well just fill in all that extra stuff somewhere in the house. If you have been a follower of my posts, you would know am suggesting this temporarily. De-cluttering is the way to go. But when in a hurry, you might want to have a temporary hide out.

As we all know, a good smell is a very important mood enhancer. Why do you think people buy more expensive perfumes than the cheap synthetic ones? Fresh fragrances matter. It plays with the senses, so wether that might be a candle or basic incense stick, light one to make your guests feel fresh.
