When was the last time you saw one in another colour other than white? Gypsum geometry
This perhaps could be the most simple way to add some glamour to your living room. Neither too exorbitant on your budget, all you would need is to give a thought to the pattern vis-a-vis the area of the ceiling. This can be made out of POP or gypsum by a good local POP vendor. Just ensure the location of your fan and lights while creating the pattern and keep it simple if the area is small.

Dramatic dome
Now we understand a regular city apartment may not have an entrance foyer. However, a dome ceiling with a right texture paint can uplift the area. Paint it in matte metallic gold or get gold leafing done if you may desire. The trick is to try and keep it in the centre, where a chandelier will add the volume to it.

Classic coffered
The traditional look is mostly a series of sunken panels between a grid of bold beams. You may not see it much in city architecture of the metros today but in the north eastern part of India they still have a lot of beams. Coffered ceiling is a smart way to cover up those random beams. Wether you go for rectangular, square or even a circular one for the centre, a coffered ceiling surely adds a bold character to a room. Once again gypsum sheet can be a easy to find material for this.

Art Attack
This one is for those you have a thing for quirky things in life. Luckily we live in a country which is throbbing with a variety of exquisite regional art. Go for the Indo-Potuguese symbols of Goa or the over the top thikri art. However, do ensure that you choose a simple design that is not too overwhelming. Also, we would strongly recommend to keep it simple for the interiors of the room, in case you do happen to get this done.

Wondrous vault
Let’s make it grand! Lately a lot of builders are developing duplex houses with double height living rooms. Also if you do happen to have a country home or a farm house, a groin vault ceiling is just what you need. A bit more technical though, any good architect should be able to help you on this. This classic wonder is as posh as it gets.

How about some outdoor love, this mediterranean inspired look is just what you need. All you would need is good seasoned wood and bamboo to get it all together. Let the sun rays play hide and seek in your verandah while you enjoy the breeze. Style it well and this environment friendly structure would be your corner full of your beach side memories.
