Firmly establishing their global Indian footprint on the world design map, Scarlet Splendour, a luxe design label, is all ready to present iconic products from their maiden collection at the Spazio Rossana Orlandi, Salone Del Mobile 2016 (Milan Design Week). We take great joy in telling you about this brand and bringing you some exclusive highlights from their collection to be showcased.

Scarlet Splendour is a ‘design movement’ – envisaged by sibling team Ashish Bajoria and Suman Kanodia. Visual pleasure that follows when great design weds luxury is the inspiration behind this design brand which offers uniquely crafted and timeless products for spaces. A pluralistic design philosophy is evident in Scarlet Splendour’s extensive portfolio of home accents and collectibles which are works crafted by designers of international repute. Some of their bestselling offerings in India include those by prolific Italian designer Matteo Cibic whose Indian-handicraft-meets-contemporary-design pieces are part of the Vanilla Noir collection, while his Luce Naga selection captures the fluidity of the serpent’s movement in fine ceramic with lights that are dramatic, yet classic in their form and crafted out of fine ceramic in Italy. Presenting in Milan, the design label has curated a powerhouse collection, at once diverse, international and inspiring in its fusion of local with global, and here are some sneak peeks.

Selecting stellar pieces from the Matteo Cibic furniture collection, Vanilla Noir which fuses Indian handicraft of bone and horn inlay with modern polymers and pigments, there will be The Count – a tall, impressive cabinet added to the line in 2016. Then comes A Trip to the Moon, another new addition to the collection, wherein Matteo Cibic has created an unusually shaped chest of drawers with a cylindrical body and a surreal ‘Nose’ suggestive of an impending rendezvous with fantasy.

Bringing in some luxe lighting will be the Chandelier from Luce Naga collection, while the Fool’s Gold collection of tables, rich in texture and colour combining traditional techniques in pure brass with contemporary amorphous sculpting, will hold its own in this varied range. Going down from ceiling to floor to ground, Scarlet Splendour will showcase luxurious carpets from their Karesansui collection, made of premium New Zealand wool and viscose, and stamped with the creative genius of Cibic who has made sure these indulgent rugs are tufted and meticulously trimmed by hand in India, to resemble the karesansui or dry miniature landscapes that are popular in Japan as Zen or Rock Gardens.
Also, under the spotlight will be beautiful brass objet d’arts from the Dario Contessotto and Mirco Colussi collaboration for Scarlet Splendour. By adapting classic Italian sensibilities to Indian handicraft, the duo has created stunning items of décor like Terra – inspired by the Indian Matka but with three quirky legs, Flora – brass vase inspired by petals in nature and Mira – curved brass tubes hold up a shining container imbuing it with a metaphysical suggestion.
