Although the word Bohemian was still not discovered, its only later when these unconventional gypsy people started being called “bohemiens” by the French, the origin of the word Bohemian came into existence. With time many artists also took this label upon themselves as this way of life became more about putting out your personality, being offbeat and having an alternative lifestyle. Coming back to today, still many of us believe this style is more about clutter and less about being in control. Get a mid century teak cabernet with a new age metal chair by the side. Just don’t bother about if the colours match or if the metal is too harsh with the wood. Go by your gut. If you think your couch stands out too much, get some eclectic mix of cushions and make it picture perfect. Just try to get a mix of vintage with the new age.

Let’s admit it, many of us give in so much time fixating over a particular area in the house, thinking it’s so good that it could totally adorn a page in AD or something. Lighting is always a very important part of the interiors, so is the choice of the fixture. Boho look can be a bit dramatic at times, so why not get some lights to match. Add in a vintage frill lamp in a corner or put in a candelabra in the room. Keep it warm.
